Stainsleigh 4-H Club Exchange:

The Stainsleigh 4-H was thrilled to be picked to be involved with an exchange with Minnedosa, Manitoba. We picked our dates, Alberta in Manitoba on July 7 – 17, 2011 and they came to our great province August 1 – 11, 2011. We decided to travel by train both ways and what an adventure for the members, no members had travelled this way before. The week we were in Manitoba we spent a lot of time doing water activities for they are close to Riding Mountain National Park and other bodies of water. We also toured a Hutterite Colony, Reptile Garden and paint balled.

Now when the Manitoba members came to Alberta we had 10 days of jam packed adventures. We did paint balling, zip lining, toured Gibson’s Tank farm, a full day of Drumheller site seeing, swimming, museums tours and a day at CFB Camp Wainwright. They also got to learn about guns and how to shot them at our local gun club with the assistant of our clubs project leaders and members. This was a great day and all Alberta and Manitoba 4-Her’s had a great time and they came away with a greater respect and knowledge of our project.

What a great bunch of people in Manitoba. We were thrilled to see another part of Canada that was only a short distant from home. Every province does 4-H a little bit different and it was a great learning adventure. I am sure some of these friendships will last a life time.
